As we approach White Rock’s 75th anniversary in 2032, we must decide what kind of city we want to be. Vision 2032 – Our Future By Design is my commitment to protecting White Rock’s identity while inviting peninsula-wide collaboration with our neighbours to shape a more resilient, transparent, and engaged future for the Semiahmoo Peninsula.
The relationship between White Rock and South Surrey is evolving, it is time to talk openly about what that means for the future. I believe White Rock City Council should lead that conversation by creating a Vision 2032 Task Force. Let’s directly address this issue, not bury it beneath bloviated talk about building a new City Hall. We don’t need endless Official Community Plan “adjustments” and corporate reports that are hundreds of pages long prepared by expensive “consultants”.
We need a respected and engaged public discussion with representatives from all parts of the peninsula to explore all options and provide recommendation about the best way to have the City of White Rock maintain its independence.
However, any vision2032 without fiscal discipline is just wishful thinking. That’s why my first action on Council will be to reinstate the Finance, Audit and Budget Committee — with a clear mandate to open the books, engage residents, and rebuild trust. Fiscal accountability is the foundation of every good decision. Without it, we cannot meet the challenges ahead — or afford the solutions our community needs.
If you believe in sound financial planning and want a council that listens to the voters, then please provide me with the opportunity to represent you on council.
Vote for Greater Fiscal Accountability and a clear Vision for 2032.
